2 week ireland driving itinerary
Only 108 days till we leave for Ireland! I’m so very very excited. I booked our plane tickets yesterday and while I didn’t get them for under $600 like I wanted (they were $635) I did get a nonstop flight which is pretty awesome. That makes our trip about 6 hours instead of 12-21 hours with layover flights which is well worth it. I also managed to book some nights in castle hotels Ireland so that we can experience a bit of luxury on our travels. Below is our finalized 2 week Ireland itinerary. What do you think?

Dublin

Day 1

Arrive at approx 5:45 am. Check into hotel early for a quick nap and to freshen up. Visit St. Patrick’s Cathedral and Molly Malone statue. Stay overnight in Dublin city centre.

Note: We’re only spending one night in Dublin because the president and The Queen are visiting during our stay and most attractions and roads are closed. That just means we have to come back someday!

Day 10

Leisurely day walking the castle grounds (there’s 450 acres of it). Horseback riding or go back to Galway for some shopping at the Saturday market. Stay a second night in Recess.

  • Activities: Galway Saturday Market
  • Restaurants:
  • Lodging: Ballynahinch Castle Hotel

Day 11

Another relaxing day at the castle or driving around the Connemara region. Stay a third night in Recess.

  • Activities: None!
  • Restaurants:
  • Lodging: Ballynahinch Castle Hotel

Day 12

Leave at 11 am for home.

The next few weeks will be spent booking all the lodging and activities. So far I’ve only booked the Ballynahinch, Trad on the Prom, and our plane tickets. Some of the activities we won’t book in advance because they’re weather dependent and of course that’s always a gamble in Ireland. We also plan to get the Heritage Card so the admission to most of the castles and historic sites will be free.

I’m so excited I can hardly wait!!
